This is an extremely rich collection for Barton, his circle of colleagues, and the network of naturalists and scientists of his day. As the collection shows, Barton was interested in topics as diverse as goiters, rattlesnakes, American Indians, and materia medica of the U.S., and Barton published on all of these.
